Designing for Leo Energy
Leo is one of the most recognizable signs of the zodiac. Ruled by the Sun, it is associated with a healthy ego, warmth, vitality, authentic self-expression, a strong sense of identity, childlike wonder, and an almost gleeful enthusiasm for life. Throughout history, it has also been connected with royalty, leadership, performance, and the spotlight, which is why today one of the clearest expressions of Leo energy can be found throughout the entertainment industry. Actors, musicians, dancers, performers, and storytellers all embody the Leonine desire to share their light, inspire others, and create unforgettable experiences.
It's this blend of glamour, theatricality, confidence, and unapologetic self-expression that makes Leo-inspired interiors so often imagined with gold finishes, dramatic chandeliers, luxurious fabrics, and regal silhouettes. In fact, I often use the Palace of Versailles as the quintessential visual expression of Leo energy.

Sometimes, that celebration naturally results in grand gestures, but those gestures aren't the goal—they're simply an authentic expression of Leo's radiant nature. Bringing Leo Energy to Life
Leo energy isn't expressed through a single object or design decision—it's woven into every layer of a home. To show you what that looks like in practice, I designed an entertainment room inspired by Leo's love of spectacle, creativity, celebration, and authentic self-expression. From the custom wet bar, designed to encourage gathering and joyful rituals, to the high-gloss lacquer ceiling that reflects light throughout the room like the Sun itself, every architectural and decorative element was intentionally selected to represent a different facet of this vibrant energy. Together, they create a space that feels unmistakably Leo.
You don't need these exact pieces to create a Leo-inspired space, but I hope they help illustrate how this energy can manifest through objects, materials, and art.

It reminds us that some of life's greatest joys come from expressing ourselves without worrying about perfection. E. Marble Side Table
Marble has long been associated with palaces, temples, and grand estates, making it one of the most enduring symbols of beauty and prestige. Combined with its bold Art Deco-inspired geometry, this side table celebrates Leo's appreciation for masterful craftsmanship and regal luxury, echoing the noble spirit of the zodiac's solar ruler.
This particular table is also a vintage find from Chairish. Sustainability is an important principle of Elysian Sanctum's holistic design philosophy, and sourcing secondhand is one of my favorite ways to discover truly one-of-a-kind pieces. F. Sculpture
Sculpture is one of my favorite ways to encourage people to be a little more out there with their homes. It's unexpected, instantly creates a focal point, and adds personality to a space.
This particular sculpture reimagines Hercules, the legendary hero celebrated for his courage, strength, and leadership, as a playful contemporary figure simply enjoying his music and embracing life.
Just as Hercules once showed courage through extraordinary feats, today courage can also mean having the confidence to embrace joy and express yourself unapologetically in a society obsessed with productivity. Maybe that's another reason I love sculpture—it's an object that exists simply to enrich our lives, reminding us that beauty, art, and delight don't need to earn their place. And that is a very Leo way to move through the world.
